The problem with that is, at 56 years old, Lisa needs medication to manage her high blood pressure, hypothyroidism, and neck spasms. She takes three daily medications for her blood pressure alone: propranolol, hydrochlorothiazide and lisinopril. Lisa’s husband is a retired pilot and veteran, so he gets Medicare and disability benefits from the VA, but nothing that covers her as well.

After two months of paying the full price for her medications, she was ready to take her pharmacist’s suggestion and try GoodRx. Now, GoodRx coupons help her save $200 to $250 on medications every month. “GoodRx has helped so tremendously since we live on a fixed income,” Lisa says. “It’s been a lifesaver for us.”

Lisa believes nursing was her calling, and from a young age, all she ever wanted to do was to become a nurse. But now she considers herself “retired” even though she’s not quite at retirement age yet. She hasn’t returned to work because although her father passed away in January, she continues to make trips to help her mother, who has dementia. She’s at peace with her decision as she feels she has fulfilled her commitment to nursing after 36 years.

Lisa has traded in taking care of patients for looking after her young grandchildren with her supportive husband – “I’m just enjoying life now and taking it a bit easy. And I love being Nana.” Needless to say, GoodRx has helped make things easier. She tells us, “I saw firsthand how expensive my mother-in-law’s heart medication was. After that and rent, there wasn’t anything left over. Luckily, that’s not the case for me. If it had not been for GoodRx, I would’ve gone off some of my medication or had to change my routine, but now I can manage and don’t have to worry about the budget too much. GoodRx is a godsend.”
