The children are of an analysis in Germany, according to the present Coronavirus pandemic, probably as contagious as adults.

The number of viruses in the respiratory tract demonstrate, not different in different age groups reported by researchers from the virologist Christian Drosten of the Charité hospital in Berlin in a pre-published and not-yet of independent peer-reviewed study.

The researchers warn, due to their results in front of a full Opening of schools and kindergartens in Germany.

Measures to curb the pandemic, have shown that in many countries, the researchers write.

With the relaxation of the contact constraints, there is also growing discussion about the contribution of the closure of schools and kindergartens this success has – and how a re-opening on the spread of the Virus could have an impact.

So far is unclear the extent to which children pass the Virus on to others.

The investigation of this question is difficult, because the schools were closed early, and because the Virus was passed on, especially in the initial phase of the epidemic, especially of the adults.

Viral load is no different

The Team Drosten had now Infected in samples of 3712, between January and 26. April were examined in a Berlin test center, the amount of Sars-CoV-2-viruses.

They found no difference in viral load between different age groups. In the assessment of the risk of Infection in schools and kindergartens, the same assumptions should be applied, which also apply to adults, the researchers write.
