Well having startled you all by an early Sunday post last week, I thought I’d keep you guessing with a slow start this morning. After all, got to keep you on your toes [insert your own heel striking gag here].

It was a busy weekend for me, starting with a 15 miler on Saturday morning. While I normally visit the Church of the Long Run on a Sunday, Saturday night was my annual club dinner/party/awards ceremony, so clearly the next day was not really going to be the best time to set out on a 2 hour run. Though in the event, it was a rather good day for a pootle around the park paced by an eight year old on a scooter.

So back to my running club – or as someone put it on Facebook the next day, the dancing club with a running problem. For any runners doubting whether they should try their local club, or worrying about pace/friendliness etc: please give it a shot. I found the Windmilers at the start of my running journey and with it came friends, support, coaching, cake – and even a bit of running now and then. Now I’m co-captain of the women’s team and they even gave me a very lovely award on Saturday. So go and find a local team – maybe the first one won’t feel quite right, so go try another. They will support you, and you can support them.

And on that note, over to you. Come and share your weekend triumphs, but not before doffing your virtual running caps to our David from BTL, who ran 2hr 37min 57sec at San Sebastian yesterday: a neatly rounded 6 min miles for 26.2 miles. An absolutely brilliant run, superb pacing and hopefully currently enjoying a well earned cerveza or two. Or still sleeping them off …
