While CrossFit pro Brent Fikowski was recently in Miami for CrossFit’s Wodapalooza 2020 event, he stopped by powerlifter Stefi Cohen’s gym to get schooled in a powerlifting workout that included getting his knees wrapped. In a new YouTube video, he’s turned the tables back on Cohen—and three other powerlifters—by putting them through an intense CrossFit workout.

The set he creates includes 20 reps of plyo push ups, followed by deck squats, and ending with Devil’s press (a burpee combined with a dumbbell snatch.) “I want to get this over with,” Stefi says. She faces off against a fellow powerlifter, and knocks out the routine in 8:39, flipping off the camera after she’s finished. Marcus finishes in 12:26. “That was bad,” he says. “Powerlifter does CrossFit. Ouch.”

Next, Cohen’s challenger takes on Hayden Bowe, and finishes in a super quick time of 7:27, while Hayden clocks in at 10:28.

Brent remarks, “It’s funny, you can tell how strong you guys are in here (pointing to his core) when you do your push ups, and when you hop up, you’re just so rigid. In CrossFit there’s this funny balance between you need that, but then you need to be relaxed at certain moments as well. You guys hold that tension the whole time.”

Hayden ends the video with some reflection on the side-effects of the grueling challenge—and understandably, he seems to have a nap in his future. “It’s going to take me longer to recover from this workout, just my breathing and cardio, than the actual workout took,” he says. “My body is trying to go to sleep. My eyes are actually closing.”
