Walk in a nutshell
This woodland wander whisks you through city parks and along Porter brook for a bird’s-eye vista of Sheffield.
Directions
1. Enter Bingham Park at the end of Rustlings Road and follow the metalled path south-west through the park.
2. Just after the first ponds, take the path off to the right that crosses over Porter brook and runs parallel with the main path.
3. Continue for about 300m, exit the park and cross the road to enter Whiteley Wood by the first path.
4. After about 150m, exit the woods on to Whiteley Wood Road, cross over and continue. Follow the walk markers through the woods for about 600m.
5. Walk a short distance along the road to enter the next section of park and keep following the circular walk markers for another 400m.
6. Exit the woods, cross the road and follow the path ahead for about 200m.
7. Go through the squeeze stile to follow the path along the edge of the plantation, with fields off to your right.
8. After another 400m, go through another stile, cross over Clough Lane and continue on.
9. Where the circular walk signs branch sharply to the left, keep straight on up a final steep section to reach the road.
10. Walk up the road for views back down the valley towards Sheffield.
11. Retrace your steps back to Bingham Park.
