The Federal government has not shown understanding for the criticism that the Corona-Warning-App runs on older Smartphones.
“Of course you would want that (…) everyone could work with any old Smartphone, but there are technical reasons, which are not wipe out by a political will of the Federal government,” said government spokesman Steffen Seibert.
The App will use new techniques and safety procedures, the older Smartphones did not. Taking these factors into account, the developers would have worked on the App.
11.8 Million Downloads
“It runs on more than 85 percent of the existing Smartphones,” he said. The developers have promised to double-check whether an improvement is possible.
Just a week after the Start of the Corona-Warning-App according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has been downloaded already 11.8 million times.
