This weekend Hafthor ‘Thor’ Björnsson will be stepping into the ring to fight arm wrestling champion, Devon Larratt. It’s a supersized matchup, no doubt, but it’s not exactly the one we all wanted to see. September 18th was supposed to be the date Thor and Eddie Hall stopped all the talking and finally settled their differences with a good old fashioned slug fest. Unfortunately Hall’s ruptured bicep put paid to that.
But at least we have Thor versus Larratt to fall back on, and one man who’ll definitely be tuning in will be Hall himself.
Speaking exclusively to Men’s Health UK, Hall revealed how he’s watched Thor’s two previous exhibition fights – draws against Steven Ward and Simon Vallily—and let’s just say, he hasn’t been too impressed.
“I’ve watched both the fights and it was very laughable” says Hall. “It’s put a lot more confidence in me watching his fights, because I know what I’m capable of. I know what I can do.
“I’ve put absolutely zero content out there, and I know for a fact that’s going to be getting in his head as well that he doesn’t know what’s coming. You know he’s going to have some sleepless nights, whereas I’m going to sleep like a baby, because I know what’s coming and I’m not scared of it.”
Hall says that his decision not to put out too much content of him in boxing action is a deliberate one, and it’s one he hopes will pay off with the two provisionally scheduled to meet at the end of March 2022.
“I’ve got a game plan based off what I’ve seen,” says Hall. “Me and my coach have worked out his movements, seen his footwork, seen his punches and we’ve worked a game plan on what we’ve seen. He has seen absolutely zero, I haven’t given him anything to work off. Little bits of pad work, a few drills here and there, but he’s not seen me spar one little bit, so he doesn’t have a clue what’s coming.”
