I am sure I’m not alone in saying that I’ve gifted socks to my family as a joke many times over the years. And, why not? Like the weather, sock-wearing is an experience all of us share. If you’re athletic, love going on long walks, or are simply blister-prone (hear, hear!), having some good quality socks really can be a gift.

While most of us are out here giving each other hilariously-printed fuzzy socks as jokes, I kept hearing Instagram influencers and my athletic friends rave about Bombas socks ($25, Amazon). People love to talk about how comfortable they are and that they’ve been a savior for blisters while providing great arch support.

I figured it was just another brand making miraculous claims till my sister gave in to the hype, bought a pair, and I tried one of hers on. Not only did I steal that pair from her, I went ahead and bought myself eight more pairs and then threw out all my other socks.

Here’s why every pair of socks I’ve owned has paled in comparison to Bombas:

They’re like a hug for your feet.

If physical touch is your love language, you’re in for a treat. The honeycomb-patterned stretch on the arch of these socks really form-fits to the unique shape of your foot for a true hug-like feel.

The super soft fabric is made of extra-long staple cotton which essentially just means that the socks have a lot of stretch to them. My feet are wider than average, so most of the time, I feel like the seam of athletic socks stretch uncomfortably across my toes. If they’re not doing that, the seam is instead moving around in my shoe while I’m walking or running (that’s not just me, right?).

Not only are these socks totally seamless, they’re budge-proof, so you won’t have to bend down to adjust yourself mid-adrenaline rush.

They’re actually blister proof.

Nothing ruins the high of getting a new pair of shoes like them destroying your ankles with blisters while you break them in. I’m super blister-prone on my ankles, and most socks claiming to be blister-proof have done nothing for me. I also tend to get blisters on the rest of my feet after long runs and walks in hot weather, and these are great for preventing those, too. Bombas socks are the exception.

I haven’t gotten a single blister since I started wearing these several months ago, which is saying a lot for me. The high-quality cotton is sweat-wicking, which keeps my normally sweaty feet dry and blister-free in these.

It’s a brand I feel good about supporting.

The entire Bombas brand was actually created to help provide clothing to the homeless community. Socks are the most in-demand item at shelters, which is why that’s their signature item. So, for every sock you purchase, one is donated to the homeless community. That’s also the reason they’re probably more costly than most socks you’ve purchased in the past.

For me, they’re totally worth it. They’ve taken over my sock drawer for being the most comfortable things I’ve ever put on my feet—sometimes I’ll even wear them just to lounge around at home or to bed because they’re just that comfortable.
