For the first time two people have died in Germany after diseases with the new Coronavirus. Both deaths were announced in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The first death victim is an 89-year-old woman from Essen, which has been treated since the beginning of March in the University hospital.
She died on Monday lunchtime at 12: 44 PM an inflammation of the lungs in consequence of Coronavirus infection, such as the city of Essen announced on Monday.
A good hour later, a 78-year-old man from Gangelt died in the district of Heinsberg. He was reported last Friday in a hospital in Geilenkirchen and died on Monday at 14 p.m. of a heart, said Heins Berger district administrator Stephan Pusch in the evening.
The man had suffered from pre-existing conditions such as heart problems and Diabetes. He had previously visited a carnival session. On Sunday a 60-year-old firefighter from Hamburg died in Egypt on the Coronavirus.
At risk are older people
Pusch reported that in the most affected district of Heinsberg, 323 infections were detected. 15 people were treated in hospitals, but not children or adolescents.
Affected are mainly the elderly with pre-existing conditions. The first two deaths in connection with the Coronavirus in Germany, in the view of NRW health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU): “We must take the Situation very seriously.”
With dismay he had learned of the death of the two patients.
Coronavirus: North Rhine-Westphalia is the most affected
On Monday morning, the Robert Koch Institute had listed 1112 proven infections in Germany. Most of North is affected-Westphalia.
According to Figures from the NRW Ministry of health, the number of confirmed cases rose on Monday (as of 16: 15) 524. Worldwide there are, according to RKI over 110,000 infected people.

So far, no treatment options against Covid-19

Most of the Infected have only mild cold symptoms with Chills and a sore throat, which disappears within a few days, or even no symptoms.
About 15 out of 100 Infected become seriously ill.
