Dr Joanna McMillan says …
Top marks for … Your wonderful lunch and dinner, rich in plants foods. Combined with the juice, these deliver an impressive array of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory compounds and nutrients which will help protect your body from the damage to DNA and cells that accelerates the ageing process.
If you keep eating like this you’ll … Need to ensure you adequately fuel your friendly gut bugs. Your intake of vegies, nuts and seeds is good, but you don’t have any wholegrains or legumes, both of which are major fibre sources. You also need to watch the treats: the artificial sweeteners in the Coke Zero are damaging to gut bugs.
Why don’t you try … Making your sultana bread with wholegrain and/or legume flours (such as lupin flour), choosing brown rice over jasmine rice, and replacing the Coke Zero with sparkling water flavoured with mint, cucumber or fruit. Have sweet treats no more than two or three times a week.
