On the CantoMando YouTube channel, Sheldon Ho, Mike Wu and Edward Leung regularly assign themselves physical and mental challenges, like when they attempted to train like Marvel superhero Shang-Chi, with the help of a real-life Shaolin kung fu master. In another recent video, Edward puts his two pals through their paces by coaching them through the U.S. Navy SEALs physical fitness test, forcing them to undergo the grueling drills day in, day out, until they reach a suitable level of physical readiness and functional fitness.

The SEALs PFT consists of:

“At first I thought it was more of a joke when doing it, but the more effort you put in, you get kind of attached to the outcome of things,” says Mike.

While the entire test pushes Mike and Sheldon to their limits, Sheldon especially struggles with the running, and fully admits that if he fails the test,it will be due to his cardiovascular fitness, while Mike sets himself the personal challenge of being able to pass the swimming portion of the assessment if nothing else.

After a week of rigorous practice, the morning dawns for Sheldon and Mike to attempt the test for real. They each manage the minimum number of pushups (42) in a 2-minute window, then move straight into the 2 minutes of situps, smashing that goal of 0f 50 reps before tackling the pullups, where they each achieve a minimum of 6 reps.

Finally, will the running and swimming portions of the test defeat them? A time of 11 minutes or under is needed for them to pass the run; Mike completes the 1.5 miles in 10 minutes 30, while Sheldon, despite not reaching the minimum level for this round, shows “significant improvement.”

When it comes to the swimming, Mike achieves a passing time of 12 minutes 15 seconds, earning himself a passing grade for the overall test. Sheldon, meanwhile, is left to work on his cardio.
