As a horror movie lover, there are lots of things I find totally plausible in Netflix’s new movie, Bird Box. (End of days caused by some unknown entity? You bet. Finding love with an extremely attractive man in a post-apocalyptic world? Yes, please.) But navigating life blindfolded isn’t one of them.

That implausibility (seriously—how did she navigate rapids blindfolded?) didn’t stop people from coming up with a brand-new challenge related to the move, aptly named the “Bird Box Challenge.”

The challenge—which basically involves people doing everyday tasks like brushing your hair or…apparently navigating a puppy minefield (???) while blindfolded—has become increasingly popular on social media. And on Wednesday, Netflix issued a tweet asking people to cut that sh*t out.

“Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE,” Netflix tweeted. “We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.”

Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.

If you haven’t seen it—and lots of you have, the movie was viewed by 45,037,125 Netflix accounts in the first seven days—the movie follows Malorie, played by Sandra Bullock, as she tries to survive a post-apocalyptic world wearing a blindfold, so she doesn’t come into contact with an unknown entity that causes those exposed to it to die by suicide (so yeah, it’s super dark).

Luckily, no serious injuries have been reported as a result of the Bird Box Challenge—just lots of people falling down and crashing into things. But still, it’s not a good idea, so let’s all just nix the blindfolds and stick to the funny memes about being blind to your ex’s red flags or something, deal?
