Appearing on Good Morning Britain earlier today, Dr Hilary is fearful that the easing of restrictions adjacent to the C.37 infiltration in the UK is a “recipe for trouble”. As of July 2, eight cases of the Lambda variant has been detected in the UK. Previously, on June 14, the World Health Organisation (WHO) designated the Lambda (i.e. C.37) strain as a “variant of interest”.

Nine days later, and Public Health England (PHE) announced C.37 was a “variant under investigation”.

Scientists are investigating whether or not the latest mutant has increased transmissibility.

The current consensus shared by PHE is that there is “no evidence that this variant causes more severe disease” at this stage.

In addition, PHE said there was no current evidence that the C.37 mutant “renders the vaccine currently deployed any less effective”.

However, a pre-print paper – yet to be peer reviewed – highlighted the new variant’s “critical mutations in the spike protein”.

In the research study, it was suggested that the C.37 mutant strain is more infectious than the Alpha strain.

The strain also has the potential to neutralise antibodies elicited by the CoronaVac vaccine, developed in China.

To conclude, the researchers proposed that the vaccination programmes “must be accompanied by strict genomic surveillance”.

At present, British Government statistics demonstrate that there’s a steep rise in the number of Covid cases in the UK.

In the past seven days, there has been 186,422 people testing positive for coronavirus.

This is an increase of 49 percent compared to the week prior; meanwhile, the number of patients admitted to hospital has slightly increased.

There has been an increase of 472 people now admitted to hospital in the past week.

Although the success of the Covid vaccine strategy has weakened the chain between infections, hospital admissions, and Covid deaths, the link has not been broken.

In the past seven days, there has been an increase of 24 people who have lost their lives to the disease.

Freedom Day is still set to go ahead on July 19, when people are considered “personally responsible” for their own choices.

This includes the option on whether or not to wear a face mask in crowded areas.

More than 45 million people have now had their first Covid jab, while around 33 million people have been double vaccinated.

A segment on GMB showed that patients admitted to Whiston Hospital, in Rainhill, are undoubtedly younger in age.

The sickest patients are now those who haven’t been double vaccinated or haven’t been vaccinated at all.

Although, it must be said, people who have been double vaccinated can also catch the disease.

However, the disease will be less severe than if you weren’t vaccinated.
