Eddie “The Beast” Hall has been consistently raising the bar (literally) in the field of strength sports. In 2016, at the Europe’s Strongest Man event in the United Kingdom, he set a new world record in the deadlift category, pulling 500 kgs (1,102 pounds) with a suit and straps. The following year he went on to win the title of World’s Strongest Man.
While he’s stuck at home in quarantine, Hall has been getting nostalgic, and just shared some previously unseen clips of the “craziest” lifts from his previous training, including feats he performed back when he was at a body weight of 440 pounds.
The montage begins with some simple bodyweight exercises… the bodyweight in question belonging to other people. Hall seemingly effortlessly lifts one guy in his right hand in some semblance of a dumbbell press, showing off his superior shoulder strength, then hoists him and another guy onto both his shoulders to do squats at a combined weight of 185 kgs (407 pounds).
The video also includes footage of a harness and rope pull where Hall is towing 700 kgs (1,540 pounds) of stacked weights, plus a whole human being sitting on top. Among the other lifts are a set of dumbbell presses where Hall is lifting 100 kgs (220 pounds) in each hand, raw deadlift reps at 380 kgs (836 pounds), and leg presses at 1,000 kgs (2,204 pounds).
Longtime viewers of Hall’s channel will remember that once, while attempting 1,000 kgs on the leg press, he pushed himself so hard that he ended up losing consciousness and soiling himself. On another occasion, he overloaded the leg press machine so much that it nearly caused a fatal injury when the weights fell on his penis. It just goes to show how storied Hall’s career has been that neither of these incidents made the final cut of his “craziest lifts” video.
