The Lauder family and the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. has pledged $2 million to the rebuilding of Notre Dame Cathedral.
“Notre Dame is symbol of unity and culture, and we are deeply saddened by this tragedy. As a company with a strong presence in France, and a great admiration for our many partners there, we are committed to help,” said Nancy Mahon, SVP, global corporate citizenship and sustainability at Lauder. “This extraordinary cathedral is a symbol of what is good and beautiful and enduring in the world. We are honored to be able to contribute to ensuring Notre Dame not only endures, but is returned to her magnificence.”
The announcement comes at a time when French President Emmanuel Macron is pushing to expedite the reconstruction of Notre Dame. The fashion and beauty worlds have been amongst the most active in pledging contributions to the efforts. By late Tuesday, according to AFP calculations, contributions from the private sector had surpassed 700 million euros.
