In case you need some extra motivation to get in a workout this week, Halle Berry, the superhero of women’s fitness, is coming to the rescue. While training for her physically demanding role in John Wick 3: Parabellum on September 21, the actress, 52, pointed out that certain type of exercises aren’t just good for your body and mind — they can also improve your sex drive.

During her amped-up Instagram workout with personal trainer Peter Lee Thomas, Berry could be seen doing some pretty intense (and impressive!) high knee kicks. In the caption, she threw down some serious knowledge about the many advantages of doing cardio exercises.

“For me, cardio is an essential part of my workout, and I believe that my fitness regime is not complete without it! Cardio and heart health can go hand-in-hand,” she wrote. Other benefits she has experienced? Increased circulation “leading to clear, healthier skin,” blood sugar “control,” increased oxygen supply “so your muscles work harder,” reduced fatigue and shortness of breath, significant calorie burn “helping maintain a healthy weight,” and last, but not least her “personal favorite” — increased sexual arousal in women.

Halle might be onto something here.

According to research, that same rush you feel after an awesome workout — due to better cardiovascular health and blood flow as well as a boost in feel-good neurotransmitters — definitely plays a role in maintaining a healthy libido.

“All of those things lend themselves to a woman wanting to engage in sexual activity because she feels good about herself,” Mary Jane Minkin, MD, a board-certified OB/GYN and clinical professor of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive Sciences at Yale University School of Medicine, previously told Prevention. “Sex isn’t just about desire. It’s about body image, self-esteem, and confidence—and exercise boosts all of those.”

And keep in mind: just as doing more cardio can improve your sex life, not doing it can actually kill your sex drive. So if your sex life is suffering as of late, you might want to throw on that workout gear ASAP.

This isn’t the first time Halle Berry has motivated us to up our health and fitness game. The star, whose trainer claims she has the body of a 25-year-old, often shares her wisdom on social media. A few of her secrets? Stretching, meditation, staying positive and pushing herself are just a few of the healthy acts she engages in on a daily basis.

Thanks for all the knowledge, Ms. Berry.
